from 21st November to 30th December 2025


Christmas has arrived in Metz! 130 chalets, illuminations, attractions and events will bring stars to the eyes of young and old.

The Christmas Market in Metz is installed on the City’s 5 historic squares: 
Place de la République, Place d’Armes – J.F. Blondel, Place Saint Jacques and Place Saint Louis: Sunday to Thursday from 11am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday from 11am to 10pm.
These 3 squares are open until 4pm on 24th December and until 8pm on 30th December. The Market is closed on 25th December. 

Place de la Comédie: Monday to Friday from 5pm to 11pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 11pm. Market closed on 24th and 25th December. Open 30th December from 5pm to 8pm.

Reach the heights with a tour on the Big Wheel, on Place d’Armes – J.F. Blondel, or at the top of the City Skyliner (panoramic tower) on Place de la République.
Metz, city of water and light, hosts the Lanterns Walk, organised by the Moselle Departement in the Square Boufflers.




Christmas in Metz, A Festival of Lights

(Re)discover the 5 historic squares, the ideal place to find artisanal gift ideas and to sample products whose flavours are the taste of Christmas.

Shopping opportunities continue in the streets of Metz where retailers and artisans showcase their products. Boutiques and shops are open on Sunday 23rd & 30th November and on Sunday 7th, 14th and 21st December




Christmas in Metz, An Enchanted Voyage

On the programme: chocolate and Christmas-spiced hot drinks, Mannele (brioche men), Christmas baubles, decorations, gifts, and more. 
Create unforgettable memories on Father Christmas’s floating sleigh boat trip and discover the immersive light-show Céleste at the Temple Neuf protestant church. 



Sustainable and ethical, the Christmas Market supports the action “Chalets soidaires”: 19 associations are running three chalets, one of which is accessible for disabled people.
During the Christmas Market, events, carol singers and the opportunity to meet Father Christmas add extra sparkle. More information coming soon.

Father Christmas’s Floating Sleigh

In Metz, the magic of Christmas is also on the river. Father Christmas’s floating sleigh gives a view over the City’s illuminations and the Lanterns Walk from the Plan d’Eau lake.

Saint Nicolas

The 6th and 7th December 2025, Metz celebrates Saint Nicolas’s Day with festivities for young and old alike. The highlight is on Sunday 7th December when Saint Nicolas himself will be in the city and a magnificent parade throughout the streets will take place.

The Lanterns Walk from 22nd November to 30th December 2025

Each winter, Metz is lit up for children and adults welcoming everyone into the yuletide fairyland of the Lanterns Walk. Organised by the Moselle Departement, this unmissable event is back for the 14th time to transform the Square Boufflers into an illuminated Christmas wonderland. More than 2,000 lanterns and lights make up an enchanted universe where children’s dreams mix with ancient traditions and innovations.
Sunday to Thursday: 5pm to 8pm / Friday & Saturday: 5pm to 9pm / Tuesday 24th December: 4pm to 6pm / 25th December, closed  

 


CÉLESTE at the Temple Neuf

From 14th November 2025, Metz is host to CÉLESTE, an immersive light and music show, unique in France.
Created by the architect-artist Jérémie Bellot and produced by Matthieu Gauthier from Moselle, the project brings together a video-mapping, light, and sound creation for an original event.
Over 40 minutes, the public is taken through 5 poetic tableaux that question the link between history, architecture and the universe. 15 video projectors, 20 light projectors and an immersive soundtrack by Ena Eno will animate this emblematic monument.
CÉLESTE is also helping the city’s heritage, €1 from each ticket will be given to the Temple Neuf renovation fund, which will help to maintain the building for future generations.
From 14th November to 4th January 2026 (every day from 5pm), then on weekends until 1st February 2026.
