With Loie Fuller: Research, choreographer Ola Maciejewska takes a fresh look at the serpentine dances invented by Loie Fuller. Attracted by this sculptural entity composed of textiles, bamboo rods, sound, air and the centrifugal force of the body in an active loop, Maciejewska deconstructs this historical reference through hybrid forms. The invisible and the visible, the material and the ephemeral, the real and the imaginary are carefully interwoven to play with what is given to be seen. Maciejewska has "negotiated with a ghost" - the expression is hers - and played with the history of dance to create a visual poem, a fantastic tale: a fascinating cabinet of curiosities both timeless and contemporary.
