Introduction
Following the bankruptcy of Toys “R” Us, one of the costumes of the famous mascot of the toy store chain was acquired by Brent Birnbaum. Now an unemployed mascot, the giraffe leaves its familiar world to wander the streets of Nuremberg, Germany, as part of the performance “Lost Giraffe.”
The PJ Gallery presents photographs taken during this performance, as well as a short film directed by filmmaker Byon Von using footage shot during the performance. This film extends the performance and reinforces its message, giving it a particularly powerful and striking dimension.
