Introduction
Built by the Germans between 1904 and 1910, the fort comprises 7 buildings spread over 47 hectares and linked by 1.5 km of underground passageways. The l'Aisne fortified group is located near the commune of Verny (57). It is a so-called Feste, a fortification built during the Annexation period. Highlights of the visit: a turret in perfect working order and blank firing demonstration with a 5.3 cm close-in defense cannon.
Several uniformed events are organized throughout the season. A themed event is held every year around May 8.
2.30-hour visit every Sunday from May to October, plus Thursdays and Sundays in July and August, between 2 p.m. and 2.30 p.m.
Special URBEX-type tours twice a year, by prior arrangement, on May 1 and the 3rd Sunday in October.
Groups of 8 or more welcome all year round, by prior arrangement. Visits can be organized to suit your needs (duration and schedule). Fort WAGNER is also open to children, either as part of a family or school outing, and can be adapted to suit any educational project.
The Fort Wagner Association strives to prolong and maintain the duty of remembrance, thanks to its passionate volunteers who give guided tours all year round. It is also looking to the future with the reconstruction of a bread oven. A new feature: an Escape Game open all year round by reservation only.
