Introduction
From Hollywood to Vienna, the Metz Grand Est National Orchestra invites us to some delightful New Year’s concerts: We can count on the silver screen to unearth the finest gems of classical music, just as Stanley Kubrick did in *A Clockwork Orange* with the overture to *The Thieving Magpie* and *Pomp and Circumstance*.
John Williams has added a wealth of memorable themes to the repertoire of film lovers, including those from *Jurassic Park* and the *Indiana Jones March*. Luchino Visconti brings us closer to Vienna by featuring the *Adagietto* from Mahler’s Fifth Symphony in *Death in Venice*. And we’ll be fully immersed in the world of Mozart and the Strausses—father and son—finishing, as is customary at the Vienna New Year’s Concerts, with the Radetzky March.
