Introduction

Beatrice Berrut enchants us with her recital “Abracadabra!”

Starting with Saint-Saëns’s famous “Danse macabre,” arranged for piano by Liszt, the pianist casts a spell on us, before enchanting us with the Hungarian master’s astonishing “Triomphe Funèbre du Tasse.” Her grimoire holds many other treasures, such as her incredible transcription of the Andante from Mahler’s Symphony No. 6, in which the Austrian countryside (and an orchestra!) resonates through her piano. A fairy godmother, Berrut is also an accomplished composer, as evidenced by her works *Polaris* and *Cepheids*, inspired by the music of the stars.

Quite naturally, the program concludes with Dukas’s *The Sorcerer’s Apprentice*, made famous by Disney’s *Fantasia*. A recital that will delight dreamers and magicians of all ages.
